Mmm

Posted on: January 17, 2008

I have made a purchase! Yay! On Saturday last I downloaded the Central Park Hoodie (darn Ravelry had me oogling Central Park Hoodies late into Friday night!) pattern from Interweave (by the way, how easy is that?! Instant gratification) and then tried my darndest to get into the city to buy yarn, but of course the LYS was shut (grr, don’t start me on that! One day that shop will be mine dammit, and I will stock sock yarn and I will open on Saturdays!!) so I had to order some Cascade 220 from Yarns Online Oz, and it arrived this morning! The service was fantastic – my postage costs were reduced which was an added bonus. I will definitely be a return customer.

Oh, my kingdom for a swift and ball winder!

Oooh, I am in love. The colour at the top is closest to real. Of course I will finish off the other cardigan I am knitting first before I cast this on . . . but then again it is quite cool today and it would be a shame to waste a cool day when I could get quite a bit of wool knitting done! Wouldn’t it?

We have of course been relaxing at Chez J. We entertained friends last night after postponing lunch Monday. My blerk turned into terrible sinus, a sore throat and a day in bed. I am quite all right now. Tomorrow all three children are off on sleepovers and the like, so I will be alone for a while tomorrow night while the Spunk is at work. What the heck will I do with myself? How sad is this – my response to the realisation that I would be by myself was “Oh cool, I will be able to knit in peace!” Mwahaha!

Happy Holidays then!! I am pretty sure you will finish your hoodie before my Errol CardiFlynn is done!! Nice wool, and Yarns Online is great, they specially ordered my green Eco Cascade for the blanket. The ‘Woo’ shop was closed the other day when I needed wool too. 😦 I am with you on the quiet night at home along knitting. Have a wonderful time!!!

I think you really ought to get a swift and a ball winder! I got mine on Ebay.

It all looks sooooo lovely.

the CPH has been on my knitlist since it first came out in knitscene. i still havent got around it yet!!! hahahahaha. cant wait to see yours!!!

Ooh I really love the color of your yarn. Meaghan is great at Yarns Online and always has wonderful service too. The CPH is a great knit, although I did find the hood took forever to knit.

Yeah, I’ve shopped at YarnsOnline too – I was very happy with the service. I’d be even happier if I was allowed to knit up that sock yarn! 😦

Glad to hear you’re feeling better now. Holidays are no time to be sick!! LOL

Ask Donyale about the swift and wool winder – mine are wonderful – the one I got on ebay cast nearly as much and was not satisfactory! – I love Meagan at yanrs online – shes wonderful!
I’m still tossing up about the CPH – I have a feeling I’d look like a wombat in a jumper! – maybe I’ll wait till I’m thin and there’ll be less knitting!

CPH is fun to knit……….. luckily as I ended up making one for Miss B as well.
Poor Miss B had to hold the skeins of Cascade for me to wind when I made my Ribby Pulli. Luckily I have a ball winder so it didn’t take too long and I only got her to do one at a time.

Go ahead and get the swift and ball winder, life will be so much simpler.

I third (or whatever) the swift/ball winder thing – they are great!!

I love having the house to myself too…although I do find it hard to tear myself away from the computer!!

Sorry to hear that your blerk manifested itself into a sinus demon. It’s the worst! Great purchase and even better that you had awesome customer service. Something that seems to be lacking in today’s world. Enjoy your “me” time.

Love that Cascade but thought it would be too fine for the pattern, let us know how you go as they have geat colours and of the service is wonderful!
PS My boy is suffering more now, cant go to the pool because of his stitches,LOL

oooooooh gorgeous wool!! you evil enabler!! I have been eyeing of cascade 220 for ages! I am tempted to buy some in that blue

Oooh thought I better tell you. Next knitting group is Tuesday (tomorrow) at Seals (at Kids Paradise)…we would really love to see you there.

Can’t help you with the ball winder, but I finally HAD to have a swift…so I built one. Very easy, if you just have the basic tools. Some day I’ll probably buy one, but I was at least able to put that someday off a bit further into the future! There’s a DIY group on Ravelry; that’s where I found a link to the pattern I used.
