amigu-who me?

Posted on: November 12, 2007

Oh dear. I have gone off the rails. First of all, no sock knitting to report. I have completely stalled. I cast on the second Embossed Leaves for Christmas knitting, made a stocking stitch sock and a half using two circs and phzt. Put them away.

Then, I cast on for a cardigan using brown Zhivago. This is coming along nicely using this pattern. I do like the all in one piece idea. Here is where we are at – almost at the sleeve point:

And then, something strange began to happen. I went to Birchalls and as usual checked to see what new crafty books were there. And I flicked through this book which I shall buy for my sewing friend for her birthday. And then I flicked through this book which I almost bought until I realised that I would probably find anything I needed on Ravelry. And I did. I would not consider myself a crocheter. I don’t even know if that’s a word. But, I made a head for an alien last night! It was dead easy. (Does anyone else hear Adrian Mole in their head when they read that?) Here is said head (the alien’s, not my too much TV as a kid one):

Now, I want to make one of these. Because I love dolls. Seriously. How cute is she?? (Photo completely and somewhat shamefully stolen from here.)

Finally, I have decided to take up the Project 365 challenge. My photos will be contained here. I warn you, Day One is not for the faint hearted. Take a look and feel my pain/itch!

I saw that you cued a bunch of dolls on Ravelry. I wondered! Crocheting to me is easier but I think the patterns are harder to read. Posting a pic a day? I’d never make it. Those mosquito bites look nasty, I have the same reaction to them. Don’t worry, we all get derailed from time to time.

How gorgeous is that dolly? I love her !

I have a big stash of Zhivago that needs to be put to productive use so that pattern may be perfect. Good luck in the Challenge!

Cute dolly – don’t think I could manage the pic a day although some days there are heaps – good luck!

that doll is cute..I have often wondered what crocheting a toy would be like. Knitting them is fun enough.

Cant wait to see the finished jumper (or alien for that matter)

Oh I loved Adrian Mole, aged 12 3/4 or however old he was!! You could wear your ne cardi at Mole Creek!! They have excellent caves!!!! It looks a quick knit and very nice.
Do you make may alien heads?? Nice crocheting too.
It is far too hot to knit today: 28*C is lying in a cool breeze with a cold drink weather!!

Isn’t Ravelry just the best!

Such a cute pattern!! Is this your first crocheting ever? Because it is pretty good. I have never crocheted before but I would like to begin after seeing a nice pattern for a blanket in Yarn magazine.
