Hi. I'm in South Africa and came across your blog while looking for a preemie beanie pattern. Love it. I'm in my 50s and have been knitting since I was 4. At one stage I knitted Intarsia style jerseys for shop but sadly, that job came to an end. I basically just knit for pleasure - and because I can't stop!

Hi. I am also unable to fine the pdf and would love to download this pattern. I knit beanies for our local maternity hospital - each baby born there goes home with a nice, warm beanie. I've been struggling to find a pattern for a preemie one and the one on your site is just what I am looking for. Thanks.

It does get easier (sort of) to send them off in the world. Especially now with modern communications, you can know that she is ok.

I think of my great-grandparents and grandparents, heading off in a ship, knowing that they would never see the rest of their families again....

Hooray for both your girls.

The slanty stitches have to do with the twist in the yarn. I kind of like it when it happens -- it's yet another design feature.

So cool! Growing up I had to wonder if the teachers let down their hair so to speak when the kids were away, and it is nice to know that those teacher day long things were probably not all nose to the grindstone and staid and pendantic. They needed a dose of fun too!
